Counselling Conscientious Objectors
We advise people who want to refuse military service in Germany and the South Caucasus. We also advise those who seek protection and asylum in Germany as conscientious objectors. That is why we have joined the campaign for the right to asylum for conscientious objectors.
From January 1, military registration, conscription, and so-called voluntary military service will be reintroduced in Germany. We therefore offer advice on conscientious objection to young people and reservists.
People who are fleeing the war in Ukraine via the Caucasus are advised on issues of asylum and onward travel to safe countries. We advise deserters and conscientious objectors who have arrived in Germany on issues relating to obtaining asylum or refugee status and on integration.
Consultation appointments:
Every second Thursday online at 5 p.m. on conscientious objection in Germany
(live in Aalen every second Wednesday at 6 p.m. after the peace vigil)
Every fourth Thursday online at 5 p.m. for conscientious objectors who have arrived in Germany on asylum and the right to remain

Right of Asylum
Russian conscientious objectors are usually rejected in asylum procedures in the EU, while conscientious objectors in Ukraine and Russia are sentenced to long prison terms. Over 100 organizations from more than 20 countries are showing their solidarity and standing up for these people. On the occasion of the war in Ukraine, they are calling for protection and asylum for conscientious objectors and deserters from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The human right to conscientious objection must also apply in times of war.

We support people who evade recruitment and mobilization and leave the army in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. We also support people in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan who have problems in the army or want to do alternative service.
We work with the European Bureau for Conscientious Objectors (EBCO) and organizations working for human rights in the UN system.

Solidarity with conscientious objectors
How far does our solidarity with people who are against the war in Ukraine go?
We can write to our MPs and demand the right to asylum. We can donate money to organisations that support conscientious objectors. We can make contact with people who have fled from this war and support them here in our country. We can take part in demonstrations in favour of peace.
But we can also be prepared to take risks ourselves in order to actively support these people. We can accompany them when they cross the borders of Europe, even if this means we may be accused of being ‘escape helpers’ or ‘smugglers’. We can grant them ‘church asylum’ and enable them to stay in Germany and not be deported to another country.
And we can refuse to do military service ourselves, whether as reservists, soldiers or young people who are to be called up.
Let us refuse wars in the world and serve peace!
